BENEFITS OF YOGA

  1. IMPROVES FLEXIBILITY:

Yoga improves the flexibility of the body and that is literally the first and most evident benefit of yoga. Initially, you may find it hard to touch your toes and bend or flex without pain and stress. But eventually, during the course of yoga and the exercises, your muscles tend to loosen up and you’re as good as a gymnastic, flexible enough to bend backward.

  1. PERFECTS YOUR POSTURE:

Your head is as heavy as a bowling ball and this balances its entire pressure onto the spine; which means that this directly affects the posture of the spine and your body. For about a good 8-9 hours a day, the head balances itself on the spine causing it to give you a slouched posture and a crooked body in some worse cases. Yoga rectifies this fault and helps you regain a good posture.

  1. PROTECTS YOUR SPINE:

A healthy spine is one that is straight and flexible, thus it is important to sit, walk and stand straight. Yoga has exercises for the same like, Yastikasana, Bhujasana and Konasana.

  1. YOGA FOR A GOOD HEART RATE:

Yoga is not all bending and flexing but it has its effects on the heart as well. A good amount of yoga preferably the Ashtanga style not just help increase the heart rate but gives a good rush to prevent you from falling prey to depression.

  1. MAKES YOU HAPPIER:

Yoga is a blend of physical activities and breathing exercises that helps you feel relaxed and helps in fighting sluggishness, laziness, anger, and depression. The breathing exercises in yoga help reduce the stress response by decreasing the cortisol levels and increasing endorphins and oxytocin. This helps you feel a sense of euphoria.

EXPERIENCE LIVING LIFE, THE YOGIC WAY:

As a Practioner of yoga, it is important to know that exercise is not the only thing to lead a healthy lifestyle; food habits and lifestyle habits are equally important. If you’re a consumer of nonvegetarian food then that is considered as TAMASIC food that means that this kind of a food habit makes a person lazy and heavy. If one wants to go deep into the yogic lifestyle, giving up nonvegetarian food is a must and one must lead a sattvic lifestyle.

Yoga is also a way of life once you start practicing it. Habits, like setting goals, listening to your body, enjoying the process, losing the stubborn ego, humbleness and gratefulness, are habits inculcated in the way of yoga.

SUBJECTS THAT YOU WILL COVER UNDER YOGA

  1. TRADITIONAL HATHA YOGA:

This is the purest form of yoga and this is in three parts:

  • Standing:

This is the foundation and the beginning of yoga for anyone. In this, you perform exercises for your spine so that the entire body is in sync with the processes to come. This is almost like a warm and a condition given to your body before the other exercises and processes begin.

  • Sitting:

After your body has conditioned itself to the first process, it’s time for the second part of the HATHA YOGA. In this stage, the exercises include a variety of asanas for the body like, bending, back bending and lying on the back and sometimes even on the stomach.

  • Finishing:

This is the last stage of the asanas. At the end of all the exercise, it is necessary for the body to relax and prepare for Pranayama and meditation. This generally includes exercises such as Sarvangasana series, Shirshasana series, and Shavasana.

  1. MEDITATION:

In yoga, meditation is a very important aspect. It is essential that one learns to focus their thoughts and energy in one direction in order to attain a clear, stable and peaceful mind. Patanjali, a very well known yogi in Indian history, says that yoga begins with a steady and stable mind. It is essential to bring the body and mind in balance and in sync for a thorough yoga experience.

  1. YOGA PHILOSOPHY:

You will also learn about the 8 limbs of yoga and their importance. Yama, Niyama, Asana, Pranayama, Pratyahara, Dharana, Dhyana and Samadhi and the main teachings in yogic philosophy.

But the true philosophy of yoga is that; the mind, the body, and the soul are all one and cannot be separated.

  1. SHAKRIYAS:

As said in many a script and doctrine; cleanliness is next to godliness, so is the same in the practice of hatha yoga. The first step into yoga is to keep oneself clean and hygienic. As much as we keep the outside of our body clean, so much so it necessary to keep the inside of the body clean.KAPALABHATI(IMPULSE BREATHING), NAULA KRIA(ABDOMINAL CHURNING) and JALA AND SUTRA NETI(NASAL FLUSH) and many more are the practices included in this part of the learning experience in yoga.

  1. TEACHING METHODOLOGIES:

This is meant only for those who want to learn in depth and spread the knowledge of yoga and the science of it. The key concepts that would be covered in this would be observation, logic, intuition, creativity, diversity, and adaptability.
